Dr. Melissa Holowaty is a family physician with a focused practice in addiction medicine. She also provides complex chronic pain and palliative care consultations.
She is currently the Chair of the Medical Interest Group in Addiction Medicine for CFPC, an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Family Medicine at Queen's University, a Lecturer in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and a Co-Chair of the Implementation Group for the OCFP’s Practising Well program. 
She is a graduate of the University of Toronto, completing a PhD in Molecular Genetics in 2004, an MD in 2008 and her family medicine residency in 2011. In 2020, she completed a master’s degree in Palliative Care from the University of Maryland's Department of Pharmacy. 
Dr. Holowaty is also a Diplomate of the Canadian Academy of Pain Management and holds a Certificate of Added Competence in Addiction Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC). 
She lives in southeast Ontario with her Boston terriers.
