Help you care for your patients

ECHO Care of the Elderly (ECHO COE) can help you build your capacity in the way you care for your elderly patients. The sessions run in blocks, and focus on either community care, long-term care or dementia care. Many of the topics covered focus on mental health, and the program’s medical lead is a geriatric psychiatrist.

Improve patient outcomes

The program evaluation includes questions about impact, such as:

  • Do you think you will be able to use/ have already used what you’ve learned from the ECHO COE program with your own patients/clients?
“One of my clients with dementia has frequent falls. I have recommended the daily toileting routine and wear the hip protector pant, fall prevention helmet, fall mat and high low bed and night light in the room. Also, physical therapy to assess with appropriate interventions. All this works good [sic] and has decreased of falls.” - Program Participant

Benefits of the program

Previous participants have reported an increase in knowledge and self-efficacy, and that they have learned of tools and resources they weren’t previously aware of. They have also reported a reduction in professional isolation.

"Thank you very much for this ECHO course. It has been a great experience learning from other professionals from a variety of health disciplines. I very much appreciate the opportunities fostered by this program and hope to participate in more sessions in the future." - Program Participant
