Dear Colleagues,
Transforming the way we do our day to day work is not an easy task. I am sure by now that all of you have met with your staff, gotten new clinic processes going and read more emails than you care to ever have in the span of five days. There are very real frustrations - dwindling access to PPE, limited ability to test (and therefore difficult to know how much the virus is circulating in your community), delays in getting test results, and constantly changing messages as our knowledge evolves - just to name a few.
I have answered many emails from members and connected with numerous stakeholders about these issues. The OCFP is working to address these challenges, collaborating with our partners to continue advocating for PPE, responsive testing, and consistent information. We continue to work with the Ministry of Health's Emergency Operations Centre to find solutions for family doctors and primary care.
Despite current challenges, I am inspired by the willingness of our members to volunteer and help with Assessment Centres, after-hours clinics, Emergency Departments and hospitals. I am moved by our patients, who are taking social distancing and self-isolation seriously, expressing such gratitude for what we're doing to serve our communities and their needs. And I am encouraged by the sincere concern they have for us and our wellbeing.
I could go on - but just want to say that I am proud to be a family physician in Ontario and to be a part of reducing the impact of COVID-19 on our patients.
Here are the new developments this week.

Respectfully,
