OCFP/CFPC Letter to Members: CPSO's Guidance for Emergency Medicine in Rural Practice - April 24, 2018
Members have expressed concerns about the recently released College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) guidance document: Expectations of Physicians Not Certified in Emergency Medicine Intending to include Emergency Medicine as part of their Rural Practice - Changing Scope of Practice Process. The OCFP and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) continue to champion the high-quality training of family physicians, as well as the value of a generalist scope of practice and training that includes emergency care. This is reflected by the OCFP's feedback to the CPSO during its consultations in Spring 2017. We will continue to engage the CPSO's leadership on this matter to share your concerns and ensure an unwavering focus on the best possible patient care.
