On behalf of the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) Board of Directors, I am delighted to announce Kim Moran as our organization’s new CEO, effective November 15, 2021.
Kim brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience to her new role with the OCFP. She has spent the past eight years as CEO of Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO), and currently is a member of the Children’s Health Coalition, the Ontario Health Provincial Recovery Table, and Co-Chair of the Children’s COVID-19 Vaccine Table. Previously, she was on the Premier’s Council on Improving Healthcare and Ending Hallway Medicine and a former Advisor to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto.
Family Physicians, within a strong primary care foundation, are central to high-functioning health systems. Kim has a deep understanding of the healthcare system in Ontario and is passionate about ensuring that the contributions of family physicians are fully supported.
Kim is recognized as a strong leader and collaborator for health system transformation. CMHO’s contributions to child and youth mental health care are cited as best practice by other jurisdictions and under her leadership, and together with other partners, the CMHO advocated for and received a 10-year, $3.8 billion investment.
In addition to her significant advocacy and policy accomplishments, she is well placed to maintain the OCFP’s solid track record of producing and delivering timely and relevant tools and educational supports. In her work at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Kim focused on ways to optimize the delivery of continuing professional development.
We are excited to welcome Kim to the OCFP. Together with members and partners, and backed by our dedicated staff team, we look forward to her expertise and innovative thinking supporting the vital work of Ontario’s family physicians.
Sincerely,
Dr. Liz Muggah
President
